Chris Murphy dedicated more than a decade to serving the people of South Carolina in the House of Representatives, representing District 98 in Dorchester County from 2011 until his retirement on January 5, 2026. Before joining the State House, he served on the Dorchester County Council from 2002 to 2010, where he was elected chairman in 2005.
His career was marked by a commitment to community leadership during a period of significant growth in Dorchester County, as well as a legal career devoted to protecting and serving others. Beyond politics, Murphy was a founding member of the Summerville Miracle League, helping create opportunities for local families.
