Spencer Long Family Obituary, Cause of Death – Utah Mourns the Loss of Provo Fire Captain

The state of Utah is mourning the devastating loss of Provo Fire Captain Spencer Long, his wife Katrina Long, and their three sons — Reid Vernon Long, Thayne Long, and Gage Long — who tragically died after being caught in severe flash flooding while hiking and canyoneering near a campground in Wayne County.

Procession and Honors

On Tuesday afternoon, firefighters will escort the family’s bodies from the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner in Taylorsville to a funeral home in Spanish Fork. The solemn procession will be led by Provo Fire and Rescue, with firefighters, police officers, emergency medical personnel, and other first responders expected to line overpasses along Interstate 15 to pay tribute.

“Thank you for showing your support for this incredible family,” Provo Fire and Rescue said in announcing the procession.
